Tom McMillin has served on the State Board of Education since 2017.
Tom is a former State Representative, who served in the Michigan House of Representatives from January 2009 through December 2014, when he was term-limited. Tom was the chairman of the House Oversight committee, chairman of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, and was interim chairman of the Education committee.
Tom has been an Oakland County Commissioner, Mayor of Auburn Hills and Auburn Hills City Councilman for 9 years. Tom also served as President of the Board of Prevail Academy charter school in Mt. Clemens from its inception in 2004 until he started in the legislature in 2009.
Tom served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of Crossroads Pregnancy Center in Auburn Hills.
Tom is a Certified Public Accountant and owns a small CPA firm. He has done consulting work, serving as a part-time Chief Financial Officer for several clients.
Tom is married to Dalila McMillin and has three daughters and four grandchildren.
